We are so excited to announce the recipients of the 2022 CREW Vancouver Leadership Awards! We had a great time recognizing and celebrating them along with the rest of our distinguished nominees at our SOLD OUT inaugural Leadership Awards Gala on November 17th, 2022 at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia.  

Conceived in 2021, the awards program recognizes and celebrates extraordinary leadership and success in the Vancouver commercial real estate community. Award recipients demonstrate excellence, integrity, innovation and dedication to acceleration of diversity in our industry.

Rising Star presented by Avison Young

This award is given to a CREW Vancouver member who has worked in the commercial real estate industry for less than ten years and who has distinguished themself amongst their peers by making meaningful professional contributions that are outstanding and unique.

Recipient: Joanna Holliday | Senior Manager, Corporate Marketing, Grosvenor

Joanna Holliday has been a key contributor to CREW Vancouver for over five years. As the co-chair for CREW’s MarComm team, she leads the team in all event related marketing collateral and has continuously engaged CREW’s growing membership base. Outside of her extracurricular work with CREW, Joanna has been a standout contributor at Grosvenor through her contributions to Grosvenor’s employee-led volunteer EDI committee and her initiation of the Work From Home Digest to keep her international teams connected during the pandemic.

Throughout all of Joanna’s contributions, she maintains her enthusiasm and willingness to grow leading to successful executions in her projects. Avison Young and CREW Vancouver are proud to recognize Joanna Holliday as this year’s Rising Star recipient.

Woman of Influence presented by Grosvenor

The Woman of Influence award recognizes an experienced CREW Vancouver member who has distinguished themself by their leadership qualities and demonstrates a high commitment to their career, industry, and community.

Recipient: Chrystal Burns | Senior Vice President, Retail Investments, QuadReal Property Group

This year’s recipient has had a lasting impact within her organization and the commercial real estate industry as a whole. As one of nine founding members of CREW Vancouver and a Past President, Chrystal Burns has supported the organization from its humble beginnings in 2005 of less than 25 members to more than 200 strong today. She has paved the road for many of our female leaders today who have relied on this organization for support, career development, networking and leadership training.

As the Senior Vice President of Retail Investments at QuadReal, Chrystal leads a team of over 60 individuals in Western Canada and is responsible for a portfolio of income-producing properties over 2 million square feet in addition to leading an impressive development pipeline of high profile projects including Oakridge Park and The Post. Her impact in the industry is exemplified through her supportive leadership and mentorship which has created an environment that has seen 17 promotions in the last five years, 14 of which have been women. She continues to be a supporter and advocate for CREW 18 years later having two of her direct reports holding a President role within CREW Vancouver.

As an admired leader and a true champion for women, Grosvenor and CREW Vancouver are thrilled to recognize Chrystal Burns as this year’s Woman of Influence.

Catalyst

The Catalyst award recognizes a senior-level executive and champion who has consistently demonstrated a commitment to advancing women in commercial real estate, serving as a catalyst for change in their company and throughout the industry.

Recipient: Shenoor Jadavji | President, Lotus Capital Corporation

Following her intuitive sense of the dealmaking, Shenoor Jadavji left a career in brokerage to start her own real estate investment company, Lotus Pacific Investments, in 1995, which she later expanded into Lotus Capital Corp., a real estate investment, asset and development management company with national reach and institutional partnerships. Over the last 25 years, Shenoor has transformed the industry by establishing the precedent by completing countless creative and forward-thinking transactions, demonstrating diversity and inclusiveness, and taking on the role as mentor to many young entrants.

Shenoor is known to be constantly thinking two steps ahead, and for her ability to navigate disruptions and turn them into opportunities. She was KingSett Capital’s first joint venture partner in 2004 and has worked with Canada’s largest and most credible firms like GE Capital, LaSalle Investment Management, ICBC, Fiera, Nicola Wealth, and many others that continue to follow and invest with her today.

Shenoor has broken down barriers so that the next generation of women can have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams in real estate. CREW Vancouver is honoured to have Shenoor Jadavji as its inaugural Catalyst Award winner!

The Tribute award is presented to a member of the Vancouver Real Estate community who has been instrumental in supporting the growth of women in the industry.

Recipient: Mary Aubrey | Senior Vice President of Asset Management, Nicola Wealth

Mary Aubrey brings over 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, having worked with some of Canada’s most recognized investment firms, most recently leading Nicola Wealth’s asset management arm. Under her tenure, she saw Nicola Wealth’s real estate holdings grow from $1.0B assets under management to over $8.0B with the team growing from three to 15. Throughout her career, she has built diverse teams and supported the growth of strong, inclusive leaders by being fair and open minded. Her impact had a ripple effect through the industry due to her dedication to her work and generosity in sharing her experiences and supporting people in reaching their goals.

Prior to entering her much deserved retirement this summer, she blazed a path that has enabled so many of us to be where we are today. QuadReal and CREW Vancouver are honored to recognize Mary Aubrey as this year’s Tribute Award winner.

Excellence in Service

The Excellence in Service award is presented to a CREW Vancouver member who has shown intense dedication to at least one committee for a minimum of one year and who, through such commitment, was able to promote the advancement of women in commercial real estate.

Recipient: Barbara Dancshazi | Broker Services Specialist, Newmark Canada

Barbara Dancshazi is a long-time volunteer with CREW Vancouver who joined the Events Committee in 2014. Since helping implement the now annual signature “Portraits and Prosecco” mingler, she led over 35 events and will be an even larger contributor to CREW through her new role as a committee Co-Chair next year.

In addition to her volunteering with CREW, Barbara is a licensed Broker Services Specialist with Newmark Canada where she is responsible for pitch preparation, marketing execution, and client and transaction coordination. CREW Vancouver is grateful for contributions and is excited to present Barbara Danchsazi with the inaugural Excellence in Service Award.
