We are so excited to announce the winners of the first annual CREW Vancouver Leadership Awards!
The awards program recognizes and celebrates extraordinary leadership and success in the Vancouver commercial real estate community. Award recipients demonstrate excellence, integrity, innovation and dedication to acceleration of diversity in our industry.
Rising Star Winner: Diana Lam
This award is given to a CREW Vancouver member who has worked in the commercial real estate industry for less than ten years and who has distinguished themselves amongst their peers by making meaningful professional contributions that are outstanding and unique.
Diana Lam has been a critical contributor to CREW Vancouver for almost four years. She was instrumental in creating, implementing, and executing a new member onboarding process that saw membership grow 26% year over year. She is dedicated to achieving CREW Vancouver’s mission.
This year, in addition to her role as Co Chair for Membership, she created and led the newly established IDEA committee focused on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Allyship.
Her passion, energy, and leadership in all of her endeavors with CREW Vancouver, with her employer Alabaster, alongside her recent completion of the MBA program, are truly what make her a rising star.
Woman of Influence: Regina Marklund
The Woman of Influence award recognizes an experienced CREW Vancouver member who has distinguished themself by their leadership qualities and demonstrates a high commitment to their career, industry, and community.
Regina Marklund has over 17 years of experience in construction and has been an active CREW Vancouver member for the past nine years. Serving on the Board from 2017-2019, she led strategic planning initiatives which inspired many members to join the Board of Directors.
She continuously opens new doors by advocating for women in the industry and is a thoughtful, influential, and exceptional individual. Not only has she been a significant contributor to CREW Vancouver, but she is also a highly regarded leader at Turner Construction.
Her outstanding leadership and work ethic have translated into significant career achievements. As the Special Projects Division Manager, she helped Turner grow from a company of 26 employees to over 100. In 2020, she contributed to the company’s growth by nearly doubling revenues year over year.
Regina is also involved in Dress for Success and supports many Turner Community-led programs such as the annual Toy Drive and Canstruction Food Challenge.
Tribute Award: Gayle Hunter
The Tribute award is presented to a member of the Vancouver Real Estate community who has been instrumental in supporting the growth of women in the industry. The Board of Directors selects the Tribute recipient.
CREW Vancouver recognizes Gayle Hunter, who was one of our founding members. She’s been instrumental to this organization’s success, growing it well beyond its initial 25 members to 170 members in 2021. Her involvement in CREW Vancouver includes sitting on the Board from 2005 to 2009, providing oversight of the Board and its governance, and being an active member, always making time for events, whether as a speaker or climbing Cypress Mountain.
As a partner at Blakes Vancouver, she is well recognized for her distinguished career in real estate law. She has authored several articles and is recognized as a leading real estate lawyer in The Best Lawyers in Canada. Her focus on excellence and collegiality makes her a distinguished and well-respected leader. Her commitment to the industry and career only shed light on the impact she has on the community. This year’s Tribute award recipient has also been involved with organizations including UDI and Beedie Luminaries.
