As we approach International Women's Day and Women in Construction Week, we are excited to collaborate with CSMPS for their upcoming Women's Day Luncheon Panel.

Join CSMPS and CREW Vancouver to welcome an elite group of industry professionals to share their insights and experiences, challenges overcome, the changes they have experienced as well as what the future looks like for women within the AEC and CRE industry.

Brittany Hari

Moderator: Britainny Hari, Founder & Principal, Dual Agency Inc.

Brit is a senior-level marketing and media mogul based out of Vancouver, BC.  With a zealous passion for corporate leadership, communications, and marketing, she recently launched her own company Dual Agency Inc., where she deploys her dynamic skill set to transcend industry norms and achieve winning results for clients in the professional services sector.

She successfully harnessed her craft through the fast-paced and results driven PR agency environment as well as experience working within non-profit, sports media, and the commercial real estate industry.

As an avid participant of male-dominated industries, Brit is passionate about inciting conversations around representation, diversity, and inclusion, and is involved in associations and committees furthering this work in our community.  Brit was recently named "Top 50 Women Leaders in Vancouver for 2023" by Women We Admire (WWA) and was the recipient of the Commercial Real Estate Women's Network (CREW) 2023 Vancouver Rising Star Leadership Award.

Lauren MacKinnon, Chief Operating Officer, Glotman Simpson

Lauren MacKinnon is the Chief Operating Officer at Glotman Simpson Consulting Engineers, a 60-year leading structural engineering firm in North America.  Her role focuses on numerous avenues of the business and her people-first approach has propelled the deployoment of many strategic solutions and operational efficiencies in alignment with the firm's vision and objectives.

Lauren was the 2022 President of CREW Vancouver, a board she served on for 4 years and is also a Past-President and board member of CSMPS, as well as serving other boards including being a Provincial Director for CFLC (Canadian Forces Liaison Council) and as a past Advisor for WCE (Women in Consulting Engineering). Lauren actively pursues every opportunity to make positive impacts within the industry and has made it her mission to help break barriers for others to succeed.  She is dedicated to giving back in a meaningful way to influence change for future generations.

Monique Staals, Director of Project Delivery, RAM

Monique is the Director of Project Delivery at RAM, with sixteen years of experience delivering large capital projects.  As a mechanical engineering graduate from UBC, she started her career in thermal power design.  Her career progressed to Engineering Manager where she led a number of large industrial power projects before transitioning to BC Hydro as a Project Manager in Capital Infrastructure Project Delivery team for Generation projects.  In 2021, Monique joined RAM to lead the Project Management team which has experienced significant growth under her leadership prior to taking on her new role as Director, Project Delivery.

Monique is an active advocate for the advancement of women in leadership roles and believes that educating and empowering youth leaders is critical in generating meaningful change.  She volunteers with Women's Infrastructure Network (WIN), UBC engineering and was the Woman's Infrastructure Network Emerging Leader Award Winner in 2022.

 

Mary Shaughnessy

Mary Shaughnessy, Senior Manager, Construction, Property & Asset Management

Mary trained and worked as an architect both in Seattle, Washington and in Vancouver.  Mary has been with JLL PDS for the last 10 years, initially on the Markets team as a variable PM and more recently on the Work Dynamics team delivering all capital projects for HSBC Bank in Western Canada.  She shifted her career to Project Management after many years working on designs for single-family, mixed-use and institutional projects.

Mary is very active in the CREW world having chaired the Sponsorship Committee for CREW Vancouver, is currently on the Leadership Council for CoreNet Global Canadian Chapter and sits on their Programming committee.  Mary is passionate about design thinking and innovation as well as trail running and mountain biking on the North Shore trails and beyond.

Margo Smith

Margo Smith, Interior Design Lead, Vancouver, Zeidler Architecture

Early on, Margo knew that architecture and design was the career path for her.  Working as a set designer for the drama department at her high school, she was intrigued by how infulential the setting was for live theatre, dance, and opera - almost as if becoming another character.  Translating this philosophy to her career approach to interior design provides her work with nuanced detail.  The excitement and challenge of constant evolution in trends, materials, technologies, and strategies fulfills her desire for continued learning.  Margo joined Zeidler Architecture as Interior Design Studio Lead in the firm's Vancouver office and is now a Senior Associate.  Having worked in interior design in Vancouver and across western Canada for the past 25 years, she has developed strong client synergies to build a diverse portfolio of exceptional work.  Outside of the studio, Margo serves as the Co-Director of Sponsorships with CREW Vancouver.
